Humberto Barahona, nació en Viña del Mar en 1949 y pasó su niñez en Quillota, de profesión profesor. Es casado con María Inés Becas y tienen dos hijos, Natalia y Matías. Desde su juventud se interesó por la filosofía y las religiones orientales. Es fundador del Instituto de Difusión Budista, tarea a la que ha dedicado gran parte de su vida. Tomó Refugio formal en las enseñanzas del Buddha el año 1981 con el Lama Tounsang, nacido en Tibet y refugiado en Francia. A lo largo de los años, ha sido introducido también en la tradición Mahayana y Theravada, así como en el Dzogchen.
Humberto Barahona was born in Viña del Mar in 1949 and spent his childhood in Quillota, a professor by profession. He is married to María Inés Becas and they have two children, Natalia and Matías. From his youth he became interested in Eastern philosophy and religions. He is the founder of the Institute of Buddhist Diffusion, a task to which he has dedicated a great part of his life. He formally took refuge in Buddha’s teachings in 1981 with Lama Tounsang, born in Tibet and refugee in France. Over the years, it has also been introduced into the Mahayana and Theravada tradition, as well as into the Dzogchen.
Leopoldo Suarez Pulido, nació el año 1953 en Santiago de Chile. Es casado, padre de tres hijos; médico de profesión, especialista en cirugía general.
El año 2009 realizó el Curso de Introducción al Budismo y la Meditación, con el Profesor Humberto Barahona y desde esa fecha ha asistido regularmente a las prácticas de la sangha y a los cursos, conferencias y retiros organizados por el Instituto de Difusión Budista. Ha estudiado los textos de la tradición Theravada y ha participado también en cursos de budismo Zen. Ha estudiado otras tradiciones budistas incluyendo el budismo secular de reciente aparición en occidente. En enero del año 2014, asistió al curso-retiro de 10 días organizado por la Fundación Vipassana Chile. Su área de interés es la aplicación de la práctica de la atención plena en la vida cotidiana.
Leopoldo Suarez Pulido, was born in 1953 in Santiago de Chile. He is married, father of three children; doctor by profession, specialist in general surgery.
In 2009 he took the introductory course in Buddhism with Professor Humberto Barahona and since then he has regularly attended the practices of the sangha and the courses, conferences and retreats organized by the Buddhist Outreach Institute. He has studied the texts of the Theravada tradition and has also participated in courses in Zen Buddhism. He has studied other Buddhist traditions including secular Buddhism of recent appearance in the West. In January of 2014, he attended the 10-day retreat course organized by the Vipassana Chile Foundation.
His area of interest is the application of the practice of mindfulness in everyday life.

En Noviembre 2013 siguió el Curso Práctico de Budismo y Meditación Vipassana en el Instituto de Difusión Budista IDB en Santiago, incorporándose luego a su grupo de práctica semanal y participando activamente en los programas del Instituto.
